Nothing Phone 2 Summary

After the remarkable success of the Nothing Phone (1) last year, Nothing is back with its highly anticipated successor, the Nothing Phone (2). With a commitment to innovation and user experience, the Phone (2) brings significant improvements across various aspects, promising an even more delightful smartphone experience.

Enhanced Glyph Interface: The Glyph Interface, a standout feature of the Phone (1), takes center stage once again with the Nothing Phone (2). This time, it boasts 33 lighting zones, a substantial increase from the Phone (1)’s 12. The interface introduces new features such as Reverse Charging Glyph, Google Assistant feedback, Bedtime Schedule, Glyph Progress, Glyph Composer, and more. Many of these enhancements will also be available for the Phone (1) through software updates.

Design and Display: Retaining the sleek design theme of its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (2) features a glass sandwich build with a recycled aluminum frame. The symmetrical bezels and a slightly curved back add a touch of sophistication. Noteworthy improvements include an IP54 dust and water-resistant rating, up from the Phone (1)’s IP53.

The 6.7-inch OLED screen now incorporates an LTPO display, providing better battery efficiency by adjusting the refresh rate as needed. With a 120Hz panel, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and impressive HDR capabilities, the display ensures a stunning visual experience with 10-bit colors and a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels.

Performance Boost: Unlike its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (2) steps into the flagship performance realm. Powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, an Octa-core processor manufactured under a 4nm process, and an Adreno 730 GPU, it delivers a significant boost in graphics performance. Memory options include 8/12GB of RAM paired with 128/256/512GB of storage, with the higher capacities reserved for the 12GB variant.

Upgraded Camera System: The Nothing Phone (2) raises the bar in the camera department, featuring a primary 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor and a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultrawide sensor. Both sensors come with OIS, and the Phone (2) can now record 4K video at up to 60 fps. The selfie camera also gets an upgrade with a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor, offering enhanced capabilities such as Advanced HDR, Motion Capture 2.0, Super-res Zoom, Night Mode, and Document Mode.

Battery and More: With a larger 4700mAh battery, the Nothing Phone (2) provides an extended power source, complemented by 45W PPS fast charging that achieves a full charge in approximately 55 minutes. Wireless and Reversed Wireless Charging speeds remain consistent at 15W and 5W, respectively. Running on Nothing OS 2.0 atop Android 13, the phone promises three years of major OS updates and four years of security patches.
